Lumide is a high-performance, agent-native code editor and IDE built with Dart and Flutter. It delivers a desktop experience with instant startup, low memory footprint (~80 MB idle RAM), and zero Electron overhead.
Architecture Highlights#
- Agent-Native Core: Native support for the Agent Client Protocol (ACP). Host autonomous coding agents (such as Claude, Gemini, Goose, and Cline) with standardized workspace context, streaming diffs, and permission controls.

Rope Text Engine: Powered by
sofluffy_editor, a zero-dependency text buffer using an immutable B+ SumTree rope. Edits, insertions, and splits execute in $O(\log n)$ time. - Virtualized Viewport: Only lines visible on screen are measured and rendered. Large files with hundreds of thousands of lines open and scroll smoothly.
- Off-Thread Intelligence: Language Server Protocol (LSP) diagnostics, Git computations, and AST parsing run off the main input loop to prevent typing latency.
- Native Desktop Integration: Platform menus, system file pickers, native drag-and-drop, and OS light/dark theme synchronization on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
